Montreal, Canada

Fall 2016 Semester

In the Fall 2016 semester, the junior Interior Design class traveled to Montreal, Canada to study modular and minimalist architecture and design, as well as micro building types, details, and spatial elements. During this trip, we visited PER.CH Studio D'Architecture, the Centre Canadien D'Architecture, Musee D'Art Contemporain, Habitat 67, Farm McGill University, Space for Life: Biodome, Planetarium, Jardin Botanique, and Insectarium, as well as Montreal as a city. Each student was responsible for writing a reflection for each of the site visits which included their personal impression, influence, and inspiration initiated by the site. The world famous Habitat 67, which focuses on modular building blocks to create a multi-family dwelling, inspired our Fall 2016 Studio III project by concentrating on minimalistic, multi-use building design and resiliency.
