Student Internships
Being an intern at two different design firms in Baton Rouge greatly advanced my knowledge and skills pertaining to the interior design industry. I was able to work with real life clients, learn computer programs, become familiar with manufacturers, and practice realistic pricing and budgeting. Working in firms gave me the opportunity to meet professionals in the industry, network, and gain confidence in communication.

Supervisor: Elizabeth Babin and Jamie Langridge
Title: Interior Design Student Intern
Date: Summer 2016- Winter 2016

My student internship with Arnold & Associates required me to be hardworking, independent, focused, organized, determined, professional, and willing to take initiative. Through this internship I was able to learn business procedures including marketing, maintenance of resource library, meeting with industry representatives, project management, and office operations. Programming taught me the importance of project research, proper documentation preparation, analysis, and field recording through job site walk throughs and meetings. This internship allowed me to better understand design concepts, space planning, code regulations, cost estimating/budgeting, furniture layouts, furnishing selections, color/finish sections, renderings, material boards, and oral presentation skills. Working closely with other designers improved my AutoCAD efficiency, rendering abilities, material selections, and proficiency with programs such as Photoshop, Computer Visualization 2020, Microsoft Excel, and website design websites.
